Chifley College steer puts in excellence performance at Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza carcase comp!

A fullblood Jandrew Belted Galloway steer fed and prepared by students and teachers at Chifley College, Shalvey NSW produced a sterling result on the hook at the 2012 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza carcase competition at Scone NSW in November.

Competitive with the competition’s top-end exhibits, Jandrew Ganger achieved 86.043 points, coming fourth in his heavy middleweight class. Chifley College has a very successful history in carcass competitions. The previous Belted Galloway steer they exhibited at the Scone competition back in 2008 (also a Jandrew steer) placed 2nd amongst the purebred exhibits. The College also prepared the Bekadan Beltie steer that won Lightweight Carcase Champion at Sydney Royal in 2007.

Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes NSW won both Grand Champion Led Carcase and Highest Placed Purebred Carcase with their Limousin exhibit coming in at 89.362 points, awards shared with Scone High School’s exhibit on the same points.

New Belted Galloway breeder and Red Bend College student, Brooke Tattersall, prepared and led the champion Limousin exhibit.
