A TOP line up of Belted Galloways made for some difficult decision making for Jake Phillips, Garanggi Murray Grey stud, Naracoorte, South Australia.

After careful consideration, the supreme exhibit was awarded to John Hutt’s Ashrose Dinah and calf Hutt River Dinah from Hutt River stud, Cowra.

The six year old exhibit was a stand out to Mr Phillips, who said it was a powerful cow with a high quality calf..

“She still has femininity with plenty of matron power, which we need in the breed,” he said.

“She’s a productive cow with an example of a tremendous calf that’s equal or better than her.”

The cow, which also won senior champion female of the Belted Galloways, won the grand champion Belted Galloway at the Bathurst show last year.

Jason and Kimberley Astbury’s bull Sassafras Hermitage, Sassafras Belted Galloway stud, Wyong, ran a close second to the cow and calf after being sashed grand champion bull.

Mr Phillips said two a half year old bull had profitable characteristics that could have positive impacts on the bottom line in.

The bull has had show success from a young age and won the junior and grand champion Belted Galloway bull at Sydney Royal as a ten month old calf.
