As part of the ABGA Annual General Meeting weekend, there will be a farm visit to ‘GLEN JUNOR’ Belted Galloways.
GLEN JUNOR has one of the largest herds of registered and commercial Belted Galloways in Australia, with approximately 100 breeding females. The herd was formed in 2016 with the purchase of registered and commercial cattle, they have kindly offered to show us the herd as part of the 2017 ABGA Annual General Meeting weekend. We hope to see you all in July at the farm.
Glen Junor is a historical pastoral farm in Gisborne, Victoria. The farm comprises of 525 acres of improved pasture, with 2 kilometres of Jackson’s Creek incorporated along it’s boundary. Most of the improvements to the land were made over the past few decades by legendary Melbourne Cup jockey Harry White, who retired to the farm after his racing career came to an end. Many of Harry’s favourite horses retired to the farm with him. “Think Big” (Melbourne Cup winner in 1974 and 1975) and “Hyperno” (Winner of the Melbourne Cup in 1979) are buried on the farm. The McCamley and Kehoe families purchased Glen Junor from Harry in 2015 and soon after a herd of Belted Galloways were grazing the paddocks once only reserved for champion race horses. Glen Junor is now a partnership between our two families. The McCamley’s manage the farming projects and the Kehoe’s are managing the environmental projects that the farm is also involved.
